Akron, Ohio/ South Bend, Ind. – Ohio track and field returns after a two day showing at the Akron Invitational and Meyo Invitational meets.
At the Akron Invitational, senior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) placed first overall in the weight throw gold division reaching a school record breaking distance of 19.78m. Sophomore Abby Moore (Rootstown, Ohio) placed fifth with a season high mark of 18.69m. Moore also placed sixth for Ohio in the shot put with a distance of 13.54m.
In the blue division, junior Tajah Haley (Washington, Pa.) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 12.48m.
At the Akron Invitational, freshman Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) placed second in the 800m run blue division with a time of 2:16.59.
In the blue division 3000 meter run, freshman Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio) finished second with a time of 10:46.39.
At the Meyo Invitational, senior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) finished the 5000m run with a time of 17:26.06 along with sophomore Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.) finishing with a personal best time of 17:34.54. Both times qualify for the MAC's 5k race.
Atkinson and Bowes would return in the 3000 meter run. Atkinson with a time of 10:01.72 and Bowes with another personal best of 10:13.53 (9 seconds faster than her previous time).
Junior Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) raced the 1 mile run and finished with a personal best time of 4:59.10. Senior Josie Woosley (Pataskala, Ohio) finished with a time of 5:03.28, while senior Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio) finished with a time of 5:07.57.
Junior Ashleigh Carr (Oakland, Neb.) finished the 400m dash in 56.90 seconds.
Senior Emily Deering(Geneva, Ohio) competed in the 800m run and finished with a time of 2:11.88.
The Bobcats will return to action this Friday (Feb.8) for another two day competition at the Kent State Qualifier hosted in Kent,Ohio.
