CLEVELAND -- Redshirt senior placekicker Louie Zervos (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) of the Ohio football team has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week for week thirteen of the 2019 season, as announced by the conference office today.
Zervos was recognized with weekly conference honors for the second time this season. The Bobcats have now tallied seven MAC East Division Player of the Week honors in 2019, with redshirt junior linebacker Jared Dorsa (Kings Mills, Ohio) earning Defensive Player of the Week recognition for week one, senior quarterback Nathan Rourke (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) garnering Offensive Player of the Week recognition for week three, Zervos being named Special Teams Player of the Week for week four, redshirt freshman running back O'Shaan Allison (Norristown, Pa.) earning Offensive Player of the Week honors for week six, Rourke receiving Offensive Player of the Week honors for week eight and Rourke again being named Offensive Player of the Week for week nine.
Zervos became the program's all-time leading scorer in Ohio's (5-6, 4-3 MAC) 66-24 dismantling of MAC East Division rival Bowling Green on the road last Tuesday (Nov. 19) at Doyt Perry Stadium. Zervos tallied a season-high 12 points off of a career-high nine made extra points and a 33-yard made field goal, bringing his career point total to 415 and breaking the previous school record of 409 points by former placekicker Matt Weller (2009-12). In addition to his scoring record, he ranks first in program history with 208 career extra points made and has made his last 116. He also ranks second in program history with 69 career field goals made.
