Ohio Men’s Basketball Adds Price, Roderick to 2019-20 Roster

ATHENS, Ohio –The Ohio men's basketball program has added forwards Marvin Price (Baltimore, Md.) and Ben Roderick (Powell, Ohio) to its 2019-20 recruiting class, first-year head coach Jeff Boals announced on Friday (April 19).

"We are elated to welcome these talented young men to Ohio University," Boals said. "Marvin and Ben are exactly who we want in our program: high character, love the game and serious about their degrees. I want to credit our staff for doing a phenomenal job, the last month, recruiting."

Price, a 6-5, 210 pound forward, is coming to the Bobcats after playing two seasons at Patterson where he led his team to two Baltimore City Championships, two regional championships and two state championships. The two years he player at Patterson, he helped lead the Clippers to a 51-6 record. During his senior season with Patterson, Price averaged 21.4 points and 10.3 rebounds, where after the season he was named to the All-Metro First Team. During his sophomore year at Patterson, Price was also named to the All-Metro First Team while being named the All-Metro Co-Player of the Year. Prior to his stints at Patterson, Price played his freshman year at Dematha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., before playing his junior season at Huntington Prep in Huntington, W.Va. 

"Marvin chose Ohio University for all the right reasons," Boals said. "His ability to score the basketball in a variety of ways helped him lead Patterson High School to a state championship. He will impact our program from day one on campus."

Roderick, a 6-5, 185 pound forward played four years at Olentangy Liberty High School where he was a four-year starter and a four-time letterwinner. During his senior year, Roderick averaged 27.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, earning the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year honor after the season. Roderick also finished his career as Olentangy Liberty's all-time leading scorer with 1,817 points, while leading the Patriots to two district titles. Roderick also finished the season as the Central Ohio Player of the Year and was name OCC All-League First Team. His final season at Olentangy Liberty also saw him lead the Patriots to a 24-5 record and led them to their first ever Division 1 state semifinal.  

"Ben had an outstanding senior year, helping his team to the state tournament semifinals," Boals said. "He is a high-level scorer that can make shots. We are ecstatic he decided to stay home to continue his academic and athletic career."
