Ypsilanti, Mich. – The Ohio women's golf team wraped up its fall slate at the 2017 Shirley Spork EMU Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 10) at the 6,127-yard Eagles Crest Golf Club, finishing the tournament in sixth place after finishing the day with a score of 305. The Bobcats concluded the event with a three-round total of 934 (+70).
Marshall won this year's tournament after posting a three-round total of 896 (+32).
Leading the Bobcats was senior Lily Pendy (Grosse Point Farms, Mich.) who finished tied for 12th place after shooting a 76 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round total of 229 (+13).
Next was junior Nicole Smiley (Dublin,Ohio) who finished the tournament tied for 21st place. Smiley finished Tuesday's round with a score of 73, giving her a two-day total of 235 (+19).
Sophomore Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) was next, finishing tied for 24th place after shooting a 78 on Tuesday, giving her a tournament total of 236 (+20). Junior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) finished the tournament tied for 41st place, shooting a 78 in the third round, helping her finish +26 (242).
Rounding out the Bobcats' scoring five was freshman Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) who finished in 44th place after shooting an 89 on Tuesday, giving her a tournament total of 245 (+29).
Competing unattached for the Bobcats was junior Hannah Travis (Lancaster, Ohio) who finished in 47th place after posting a score of 85 on Tuesday, giving her a two-day total of 249 (+33).
With the conclusion of the 2017 Shirley Spork EMU Invitational, the Bobcats will now take a few months off to prepare for the start of the spring season. Ohio will return to the course for the Mid-American Match Play Challenge hosted by Bowling Green Feb. 5-6 at the Lakewood Country Club in Bradenton, Fla.
