CLEVELAND -- Junior middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) and junior setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) swept the weekly Mid-American Conference East Division awards for the Ohio volleyball team, the league announced on Monday (Nov. 11). Ohio swept both Kent State and Central Michigan last weekend.
Jimerson took home both the MAC East Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards, while Giacomazzi won setter of the week. It is the second time Jimerson has won each of the offensive and defensive awards, while it is also the second time Giacomazzi won the MAC East Setter of the Week award. Sophomore libero Emma Tupa (Brecksville, Ohio) took home the MAC East Defensive Player of the Week award last week, and redshirt sophomore Dahlias Bouyer (Brownstown, Mich.) won the defensive award earlier this season.

Jimerson followed that performance up with another sweep and 13 hammers on 24 attempts for a .500 attacking percentage. On defense, Jimerson averaged 1.67 blocks per set. Jimerson had three solo blocks and seven assisted blocks over the six sets.
Giacomazzi led the offense to an impressive .312 attacking percentage and 88 kills over the weekend. Giacomazzi averaged 12.5 digs per set and recorded 75 assists in the two sweeps.
